ArachnoScript v0.2.5 is Coming Soon

The ArachnoScript Runtime has been under continuous, prioritized development. I’m excited to announce that v0.2.5 is arriving soon — delivering several major enhancements originally planned for v0.3.0.

New in v0.2.5

  • New Parser (0.2.5-genesis-1): A complete parser overhaul that produces a significantly lighter and more efficient AST. This results in faster interpretation, fewer bugs, and much better long-term maintainability.

  • File Content Caching: File reads are now intelligently cached. Once a file is read, its contents are stored and reused for subsequent reads as long as the file remains unmodified — delivering major performance gains.

  • WebAssembly Support: The runtime now includes built-in WASM instantiation and WAT-to-WASM compilation.

  • Expanded Arithmetic & Bitwise Operations:
    Previous versions supported: + - × ÷ % **
    v0.2.5 adds:

    | OR
    & AND
    ~ NOT
    ^ XOR
    << SHIFT LEFT
    >> SHIFT RIGHT
    &^ BIT CLEAR

  • Fully Rewritten Runtime: The entire runtime has been rebuilt from the ground up, resulting in cleaner architecture, better performance, and improved maintainability.

  • Working FFI: The Foreign Function Interface has been completely reworked and is now stable and reliable.

  • Cross-Platform Support: Full native support for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Additionally, polished executable installers are now provided for macOS and Linux.

  • Embedded Standard Library: The entire standard library is now embedded directly into the runtime. This dramatically improves startup time and guarantees the stdlib cannot be accidentally modified or tampered with.

  • Keyword Updates:
    spawn → let
    immortal spawn → const
    static has been removed entirely.

The Vision

A language needs to know what it is.

ArachnoScript is designed as a JavaScript-complementing language that adapts to different use cases rather than trying to replace what already works.

The goal isn’t to replace JavaScript—it’s to push it forward.

With WebAssembly support, FFI capabilities, operating system integration, and server-side capabilities in ARE, combined with JavaScript on the frontend, ArachnoScript aims to explore a different approach to full-stack development.
