Quick Update on ARE (ArachnoScript Runtime Environment)
I’ve finalized the design for parameter passing in ArachnoScript (AS)!
Originally, I shared in a Medium post that parameters would be copied by default, with a special specifier needed for shared references.
After further thought, I’ve reversed it:
Parameters will now be shared by default, and you’ll use a specifier when you want a copy.
Why the change?
Significantly better performance
Reduces accidental mutations of arguments
This feels like the cleaner and more intuitive approach for a high-performance runtime.
Let me know what you think — especially if you’ve been following the project! ![]()
